Résumé The
name of our project is Cogito ergo sum – “I think, therefore I am“,
the idea which was presented by writer, philosopher, physicist and mathematician
named Rene Descartes and it formed the principles of enlightenment. In
the first part of our project, we were writing about the conflict of two
philosophic directions – empiricism and rationalism. We will explain the
key-stones and differences of these two philosophies. The
second part talks about enlightenment and characterization. We wrote short
biographies of deputies of enlightenment. We will talk about their lives
and contribution to the literature. We will find out more about orders of
writing in that age, which were created by French writer Nicola
Boilean.
Furthemore we will mention the contents of books “Candide
or Optimism“,
written by Rousseau
and “Art of the poetry” by Nicola
Boilean
and also the reactions and impact on society at that time. And
the third part is about the light, interferention, diffraction and Huygens´s
principle. We will also talk about the refraction and rain-bow (theory
made by Descartes).
In conclusion we would like to tell you about the Isaac Newton’s and
Descartes´s contribution
to math- analytic geometry.
